26th Annual Tree Sale Flyers are distributed for display at local businesses and libraries

21 - SWCD Monthly Board Meeting, 7:00 PM @ the SWCD Office, Public always welcome!

  

22 - 2012 Annual Producers' Breakfast & Pesticide Recertification Meeting 8AM-12:15PM. 

Please Call to Reserve Your Seat By Friday Feb. 17.

The FREE breakfast will begin at 8 AM at the Greene Twp Community Building, on Roosevelt Rd. just west of Oak Rd.  The the topics to be discussed include...

  -The Importance of Filter Strips: From the view point of the Drainage Board,

  -It's Not Your Father's No-till: A panel discussion with various experts in the different fields of No-Till Systems. This discussion will focus on how technology has improved to deal with the complications of the first No-Till systems in the 1970's and 80's.

  -Soil Health; What's the Big Deal?:  In this talk, demonstrations will be utilized to showcase the difference between Soil Quality & Soil Health.  Discussion will focus on why farmers should strive to have healthy soils and how they can impact their farming operation.  The topic of Soil Health has become such a important issue, that it will be the focus of the USDA, NRCS on a national scale!

  - Mini-Bulk Regulations:  This PARP topic will cover the new regulations realting to the use of personal mini bulk tanks.

  

PARP, CCA, & CCH Credits Available.  $10 Fee For PARP, bring card!

1 - 26th Annual Tree Sale ORDER DEADLINE

 

19 - SWCD Monthly Board Meeting, 7:00 PM at the SWCD Office, Public always welcome!

  

20 - Composting Seminar 6-7:30 PM at the Downtown Branch of the St. Joseph County Public Library.  This event is open to anyone and will provide valuable information on the do's and don'ts of composting.  For more information on this event or to reserve a spot call the SWCD office today!

  

22 - NE Area training workshop for SWCD staff and Supervisors in Huntington, IN @ 6PM  

APRIL 2012   

  

4 - Cover Crop Field Day, 4PM:  The SWCD Staff and Board members have planted a cover crop test plot for you to view.  The plot consists of 12 species/mixes for you to compare.  Mark Perry of Cisco Seeds will be on hand to talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the different cover crops species.  The event will be hosted at the Ehninger Farms on Orange Road, just north of Brick Rd.  For more information please call the SWCD office.

6 - Office Closed: Good Friday

14 - Tree Sale Order Pick up Day: 8AM-Noon @ the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair Grounds in the Swine Barn.
