What Can You Do To Help the SWCD?

**Join Today*

Associate Supervisor - This is where most people begin their journey with the SWCD.  New associates are approved by the board.  The St. Joseph County SWCD believes in the committee process.  Committees are made up of both Associates and Supervisors.  The committees then bring recommendations to the board for approval.

Supervisor - This is the official voting voice of the SWCD.  These five volunteers are drawn from the list of Associate Supervisors.  Three are elected at the SWCD's annual meeting in January.  Two are appointed by the three.  Elected supervisors must own 10 acres of land in the county.

How much time is involved?

Monthly Meetings - The SWCD meets the 3rd Monday of the month at varying times.  Meetings generally last 1.5 hours.

Committee Meetings - Generally held before the monthly meeting.  Most last about 30 minutes.  Depending on the committee, one to six times per year.

Supervisor - Generally meets an extra 4 times per year.

Events - Tree sales, science alive, 4-H fair and other events can add 10 to 20 extra hours per year.
